Mikie Webber-Kane is Norfolk’s newest boxing champion.
The 25-year-old from Great Yarmouth won the vacant Southern Area super-featherweight title at York Hall on Saturday night after stopping Robert Caswell in the sixth round.
Victory took Webber-Kane’s record to 12 straight wins.
Webber-Kane was ruthless – he had Caswell on the canvas at the end of the first round and then again in the second. The gam was up in the sixth round when an uppercut put Caswell down again and a fourth and final knockdown followed soon after before the referee called a halt to proceedings.
In a post on social media, Webber-Kane said: "Massive massive thank you to everyone that has supported me in the journey. My friends, my family, and my partner. Without the support, encouragement, and drive you all give me this wouldn’t have been possible.
"Without my sponsors this would all still be a dream and I wouldn’t be able to live this life. I need to put 100pc into this and do the things I do so huge thank you to all my sponsors.
"There’s no 'I' in team and we’ve all put in so many hours and sacrificed so many things so last night could go the way it did. I cannot thank my team enough - they are amazing people supporting me inside and outside the gym and it’s a team I’ll be forever thankful for.
"The messages have been overwhelming and I am still trying to take it all in and from the bottom of my heart, thank you all for the support."
