A proposal to build a gypsy and traveller site outside a Norfolk village will be discussed at a parish council meeting.

The scheme, which could see 15 residential pitches built south of the A47 in North Burlingham, will be debated at a meeting of Lingwood and Burlingham Parish Council on Tuesday, March 7.

Access would be from the stopped-off road linking to the newly aligned B1140.

The proposal is one of ten favoured sites as well as two backup areas that have been put forward as part of the Greater Norwich Local Plan (GNLP).

At least 53 travellers' pitches are needed as part of the GNLP - a blueprint for housing development in the city and its outskirts over the next 15 years.

The sites are currently under consultation until March 13. Members of the public can submit comments online at www.gnlp.org.uk

After consultation, the GNLP team will process and analyse the responses and finalise the preferred site allocations for consideration by the authorities in June 2023.

The meeting comes as leaflets were distributed opposing the scheme.
