"I think the housing association must think we like living in squalor."
Those are the words of a frustrated Gorleston mother as she continues to wait for essential repairs to be made to her home.
The resident, who does not want to be named, lives in a ground-floor flat on Leman Road, which is part of the Orbit Housing Association.
She said she first contacted Orbit in December 2021 due to the presence of mould and damp in her bathroom.
Orbit staff inspected her home in October, removed the mould and replastered the walls. But since then, the area has remained damp.
"It's been going of for a couple of years now," the resident said.
"While the plaster was left to dry for a few days, mould started growing again. Since then, the spot they replastered has just stayed wet all the time.
"I've been ringing and ringing for them to sort it, but they've refused.
"They told us they had fixed a leak in the upstairs flat, and the damp spot on our wall should dry. But it's been a year, and it's still soaking wet."
A spokesperson from Orbit Housing Association said they will contact the resident to resolve the issue.
The resident lives in the ground-floor flat with her partner and 11-year-old son. The three of them all have asthma.
"The damp is just making everything so much more difficult," she said.
"I had been in control of my asthma for ages.
"But since the mould started growing, I've been really wheezy."
The tenant said she likes to "take pride in her home".
"But it's so hard to do that when it smells so bad all the time," she said.
"I have to wipe the area constantly and keep the door shut. It's embarrassing.
"I think Orbit must think we like living in squalor. I try to make things nice for me and my family. But it keeps getting ruined because of the damp."
On Friday, a spokesperson from Orbit Housing Association said: "Our team is contacting the property to gain access to do an inspection and will continue to liaise with the customer to ensure matters are resolved to their satisfaction."
As of Tuesday, the resident said Orbit had not been in contact.
