A Great Yarmouth man was "absolutely thrilled" to win a "life-changing" £26,000 at a casino.

He scooped the cash prize at Grosvenor Casino in Coventry after an "electric" bad beat poker game.

In bad beat poker, the person with a statistically stronger hand ends up losing to somebody with a weaker hand.

Jason Smith, 56, took home a whopping £26,250 share of the £175,000 National Bad Beat Jackpot.

The first-place winner, Vitalie Leca, won £52,500 and the rest of the money was shared between all other active tables across the UK.

Mr Smith said: "I am planning to use my winnings to pay off my mortgage so this game has been a life changer.

"I'm delighted with my winnings and am absolutely thrilled – I still can't believe this has happened.”
