A cyclist was rushed to hospital after a hit-and-run incident involving a lorry on a rural road.

Andrew Dack was riding his bike outside Lingwood in Acle Road before a lorry is said to have pulled out in front of him without looking.

The lorry was reported to have stopped initially before then fleeing the scene.

Once the ambulance had arrived at the scene Mr Dack was found on the floor in a hypothermic state and was quickly taken to hospital to recover.

Andie Brown, Mr Dack's partner said: "We've got a witness and some dash footage of the aftermath as well as the registration number of the lorry.

"Currently we are waiting for the police to contact us again, it is such a dangerous stretch of road there.

"We are lucky that the lorry had stopped as it was turning the corner, it would have been very different if it was going full speed.

The hit-and-run happened at 11am on November 26.

The incident happened the day Mr Dack and his partner were supposed to leave for their 10th anniversary France trip.

The doctors at James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston confirmed that Mr Dack had suffered a concussion as well as bruising and whiplash and gave him the green light to fly.

As a result, the couple have made it to France but Mr Dack has spent a lot of the time recovering, being unable to experience their trip to Disneyland Paris properly.

His partner said: "He has mostly slept and been resting, it definitely wasn't how either of us imagined our anniversary would be.

"He has also had constant body and headaches with bits of memory loss since the accident, he's my carer too so it has been a very scary time for us all.

"I'm hoping we can seek some kind of compensation because he deserves much better than this."
