Neighbours have expressed sadness at the death of a young woman in Great Yarmouth.

Officers were called to an address in Middlegate shortly after 2pm on Tuesday.

Emergency services attended the scene but the woman, who was aged in her 20s, was pronounced dead.

This morning one police car remained outside the flat and a cordon had been removed.

One woman who lives locally said the dead woman “used to be in her garden all the time”.

She said: “I said yesterday I hadn’t seen her in her garden for a few days.

“When I went out on the school run I saw the police, the place was rammed with emergency cars. “

"It’s sad. When she used to be in her garden, she’d chat with anyone who walked past.”

She said the death was “heartbreaking” adding: “You don’t expect it, and it being so near your doorstep it’s even sadder”.

Another woman who lives in Middlegate said: “I have lived here for many years, since 2017, and I never saw her.

“I feel sad that a person has died alone, but sometimes that’s what happens.”

A man who was visiting his mother who lives in the neighbourhood, said: “I saw her a couple of times when I parked up but I never spoke to her.

“It is a shame when somebody that young passes away with their life in front of them.”

The woman’s death is currently being treated as unexplained and officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
