The county is in for a blustery week as gale force winds are forecast across the region.

According to the Met Office, gale force 9 and 10 winds will reach Norfolk on Wednesday and Saturday. 

Tomorrow, gusts of up to 47mph are forecast along the east coast between Winterton-on-Sea and Sheringham.

The winds will then die down before ramping up again on Saturday at midday, when the stretch of coast between Gorleston and Lowestoft is set to experience gusts of up to 63mph until early on Sunday morning. 

Inland, areas including Norwich, King's Lynn, North Walsham, Thetford and Dereham could also see gale force winds above 50mph.

It comes as the Met Office issued a snow and ice weather warning for the county.

Met Office deputy chief meteorologist Rebekah Hicks said: "The whole of the UK is likely to experience a spell of several days of cold, potentially disruptive weather next week.  

“Warnings for wintry hazards, including snow and ice, are possible, so it’s important to stay up to date with the latest forecast.” 

A cold weather alert has been issued for the county by the UK Health Security Agency. 

The alert is in effect from 10am on Monday until 6pm on Saturday as temperatures in the county are set to plummet to lows of -5C.
