Norfolk is one of the top trending winter destinations for families, according to Airbnb.

The holiday site has revealed where most people are choosing to stay in the UK this winter.

Norfolk featured on the list alongside other countryside locations such as Gloucestershire, Warminster and Bourton-on-the-Water.

Airbnb experts said this reflects a wider trend of people opting for more rural domestic breaks than they used to.

Some of the country's most popular Christmas market cities such as Birmingham, Exeter and Winchester were also recognised, showing a boost in festive getaways.

Although Norfolk lacks a large centralised market, there are plenty of smaller ones dotted across the county, so visitors who want to come here do not need to miss out.

The renowned Thursford Christmas Spectacular runs from November 8 until December 23 this year and there are plenty of illuminated trails to enjoy. 

Those who prefer to avoid Christmas festivities can enjoy a stunning walk through nature and sample some delicious food.
