A Great Yarmouth man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with attacking and threatening to kill his partner.
Fanel Costache, 51, pleaded not guilty at Norwich Magistrates’ Court to assault occasioning actual bodily harm following a series of incidents involving him and the woman between April 26 and 28.
The court heard it was alleged he hit the woman over the head with a chair, punched her in the face and pulled her across the room by the hair.
The factory worker, of St Peters Road, denied making threats with a knife. He is said to have told the woman “I will kill you” and that he would cut off her legs.
He also denies criminal damage and assault on the same woman in another incident on November 6 while he was already on police bail.
Magistrates said the ABH and knife charges were too serious for their sentencing powers if he was found guilty.
They remanded him to prison pending hearings at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on November 15 and Norwich Crown Court on December 6.
