A new twist in an approved bid to build 33 homes in a Norfolk village has seen the application withdrawn by the developer.

Councillors in Great Yarmouth voted to grant full planning permission for the properties to be built in Fleggburgh back in May 2020.

The applicant, developer KBS Holdings, pledged to build the homes, including nine social houses, on land north of Tower Road in the village.

When the plans were first submitted they received many objections from neighbours over concerns the homes would add to the demand for local services and how the village's infrastructure would cope.

But despite these representations, borough councillors voted unanimously in favour of the project, stating there is a "need for housing" in the area.

Now, nearly four and a half years after the application was approved, KBS Holdings has suddenly withdrawn its plans.

It is not known why the papers have been removed and the development now will not go ahead.

This paper has contacted KBS Holdings for comment on the withdrawn application.
