Gorleston hair and beauty salon opens on Bells Road

Annalisha Amis, 21, officially opened The Hair Company on Bells Road in Gorleston exactly one year to the day after she graduated as a hairdresser. 

Since qualifying in 2023, Ms Amis started by renting a chair at a local salon, building her clientele and experience. Now she has taken the plunge and opened her own space. 

She said: “We were looking around for a location, and when I saw this place, I just knew it was meant to be."

The former office space was quickly converted into a salon in just two weeks, with all of the work completed by her father and uncles.

And since opening, The Hair Company has been buzzing with activity.  

“It’s been really good, really busy. I don’t think any of us expected it to take off like this,” Ms Amis said. 

The salon, open from 8.30am to 8.30pm Monday through to Saturday, employs a team of seven, including five hairdressers, a nail technician and a lash technician. 

"Us girls are the best of friends within the salon and have helped each other along the way," Ms Amis said.

"I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them by my side, with long nights of decorating and building furniture. My family and the girls were there every step of the way."

Originally from Martham, Ms Amis trained as an apprentice after finishing her studies at Flegg High.  

She said she was thrilled with the warm reception her new venture has received. 

This transformation of the premises followed permission granted by Great Yarmouth Borough Council to convert the space, previously an office, into a hair and beauty salon. 

The Hair Company takes walk-ins but cannot always guarantee there will be space so advise customers to book ahead.
