A major road in a coastal town is set to face delays for five months as works are completed.

Southtown Road, in Great Yarmouth, will close for bus service improvement works on November 4.

The works will see resurfacing, hydro-blasting and re-lining of the carriageway completed as well as the improvement of traffic signals at Boundary Road and the removal of signals from Gordon Road and Tollgate Road.

Traffic management will be in place throughout the improvements:

Two-way lights will be in operation in Southtown Road which will be manually operated during the day to minimise delays at peak times.

Three-way lights will be in place at Southtown Road's junctions with Anchor Court and Tollgate Road with delays expected.

Southtown Road's junctions with Gordon Road and Boundary Road will be shut as work on the junctions is carried out.

Vehicle access to properties will be maintained but further delays are expected while the areas are made safe to access.

The £452,000 project is part of Norfolk County Council's Bus Service Improvement Plan which aims to reduce travel times on local bus networks and will last for approximately 20 weeks.

The work will be completed by the Norfolk County Council and their contractors.
