A new convenience store is trading in Great Yarmouth despite local concerns about its late-night alcohol licence.

One Stop opened the outlet on St Peters Road after the borough council approved its application to stay open until 1am.

Neighbours had expressed concerns about the later opening hours due to ongoing problems with antisocial behaviour on the street.

In June, Great Yarmouth Borough Council granted the licence after Rameshkanna Paramchothy, who will run the store, said he would "make sure the shop will help the economy and local families rather than making problems worse".

During the store's opening event on October 11, branded One Stop hessian shopper bags were handed out to the first 50 customers.

Five shoppers also got their hands on golden tickets that were hidden around the shop and each won a £20 voucher.

The business will feature well-known brands alongside a variety of One Stop's own label products.

There will be a lunchtime meal deal featuring a range of sandwiches, snacks and soft drinks.

The premises was formerly McColls, and before that known as Terry's Stores.
