A lorry driver who wielded a hammer during a mass armed brawl had been warned he faces a six month jail sentence.
Ben Tungate, 45, jumped from the cab of his truck brandishing the weapon despite having no connection to a violent confrontation involving people armed with baseball bats.
Norwich Magistrates’ Court was told he had been passing in a truck when he had seen a large crowd gathered during a fight on Copperfield Avenue in Great Yarmouth on May 20.
Tungate, of Baliol Road in Great Yarmouth, pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon.

Emma Lloyd, mitigating, said: “He didn’t deliberately take the hammer, it was in the cab of his lorry and as soon as he realised what he was doing he left the area.”
The court was told he faces custody when he is sentenced on November 27 because of a previous conviction for possession of a knuckle duster in 2004.
Deputy District Judge Jacqui Appleton told him: “The court must impose a sentence of at least six months except where there are exceptional circumstances.”
Three other men are facing trial for their part in the fight.
