An empty shop in a Broads village is set for a new lease of life as a dog grooming business.

Acle Parish Council has decided to lease a retail unit on The Street to a woman named Jessica Taylor who has trained as a dog groomer for five years.

The premises, which was refurbished last year, is on the ground floor of the Brian Grint Centre.

It traded as the Chocolate Box until June this year when that business relocated to the former Wilkerson's hardware shop next to Carter's butchers on Old Road.

Minutes of an Acle Parish Council meeting on August 28 state there were two offers to rent the premises.

The other unsuccessful bid was from RSPCA East Norfolk Branch for a second-hand shop.

The Brian Grint Centre is named after a well-known local historian and parish councillor who died in 2020.

The building, which was renamed at a special ceremony in June 2022, is a community hub which also houses the Acle Foodbank.
