A replica of a lifeboat has been launched at a theme park on Great Yarmouth seafront.

Merrivale Model Village welcomed the miniature versions of Caister Lifeboat and its lifeboat station on Sunday, September 22.

The model is a scale replica of the service's new £1.6m Medina-class vessel.

The special event saw crew members from Caister Lifeboat bring the new lifeboat to Great Yarmouth seafront where it was photographed next to the model.

Sophi Parkes and Dean Gray, who run Merrivale, said they were proud of all the team and all the hard work everyone put in to making it happen.

The model has a special slot where visitors can put a coin to launch the vessel down a ramp and into a pond, before it returns to the station.

The park's owner said they hoped to raise plenty of money for the lifeboat service.

In recent weeks, the crew of the Caister independent lifeboat have been learning the ropes on board their new Medina-class boat ahead of its official naming ceremony.

It is expected the boat will soon be going on service.
