A football club chairman has expressed anger and disappointment as "mindless" vandals cut holes into the nets of brand-new goals.

The goals at Hemsby Football Club are used by under-13 and under-14 football teams.

It is the second time in as many weeks that club facilities have been damaged by vandals.

When the parents, players and club officials arrived on Sunday morning for the youth team fixtures they were "horrified" to see the damage.

Hemsby Football Club chairman, Ben Chilvers, said: "It is really annoying, we got these lovely brand new goals for the youth teams at the end of August.

"We are so upset that this has happened, the season has only just started and we already have to replace the damaged nets and straps.

"I don't know why anyone would do this as it spoils the fun for everyone, it is mindless vandalism and disheartening, I really hope this doesn't happen again."
