A resurrected bid to build three 'family-sized' bungalows in a village near Great Yarmouth has been refused yet again.

The proposal was seeking permission for new housing on land to the east of Manships Farm Cottage, off Main Road in Ormesby.

The proposed site was a builders yard, and the applicant said the development would "effectively ‘round off’ the village boundary in this location".

Planners at Great Yarmouth Borough Council said the application was near identical to one which was refused in February this year, over concerns about the loss of a hedgerow.

They said the new application's provision of additional hedgerows did overcome some concerns. However, the council again refused the proposal.

Council planners said the application site was located outside of the development limits, there were concerns over the design and layout, and there would be an "unacceptable" impact on local roads. 

Ormesby St Michael Parish Council also objected over concerns regarding access and the impact on the sewage system.

In a planning statement, the applicant had said the development would play a social role by providing additional housing to meet supply.
