The Great Yarmouth Arts Festival starts later this month showcasing local talent and boasting a comprehensive lineup.

The festival, begins Friday 13 September, serving as a platform for diverse activities ranging from music, visual arts, theatre, and heritage to a breakdancing show, herring trail, and an eye-catching carnival.

The carnival parade starts from Anchor Gardens at noon on Saturday, September 21.

Led by the Dixie Mix Jazz band, the parade will weave through the town before concluding in St George’s Park, where participants will showcase their performances.

The festival also features enchanting musical performances, including the bluesy tunes of Hot Cold Ground on Saturday, September 14 and the five-piece Capella group, Sonrisa the next day.

Norwich Cathedral’s Ashley Grote will host an organ recital on Wednesday, September 18 followed by the East Coast Sinfonietta concert, featuring Beethoven's Violin Concerto and Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony on the 21st.

From 10 to 21 September, an art exhibition will take place at the Minster, displaying works by local artists and photographers.

Alongside the artworks, a history exhibition will be held on the 14th, featuring heritage-based talks and walks.

The St George’s Theatre will host a flute and piano recital on Friday 20 September.

Other entertainment offerings include an intricate exploration into the Genius of Charles Dickens, tribute acts including Alter Eagles ’24, The Guitar Experience and Wrong Jovi, and children's entertainer Captain Calamity.

Shops and businesses in Great Yarmouth and Gorleston will display 30 student-made herrings, with prizes for those who find the most.

The proceeds will benefit the Surgical Robot appeal at the James Paget University Hospital.
