A drive-thru eatery and an electric car charging station will be built on the site of a closed-down restaurant in Great Yarmouth.
Planners at Great Yarmouth Borough Council have approved an application by BP Pulse, a company which makes electric vehicle charging infrastructure, to transform the former Frankie and Benny's site on Mitchell Drive in Cobholm.
The Italian-American style food chain pulled out of the town last year, and since then the former restaurant has stood empty.
Now the site will see the opening of two smaller restaurant areas, one with a drive-thru, and 12 EV charging bays.
According to the plans, the existing restaurant building will be subdivided to form a drive-thru. One part will be used as a serving and ordering section while the majority of the restaurant will be taken up with seating.
It will not be the first drive-thru in the area, where among the location's neighbours is a KFC restaurant.
The site will also see the installation of six EV stations with canopies to provide 12 charging bays.
The planning documents state the estimated average charging time will take between 20 and 30 minutes, offering customers' 'on-the-go' charging.
BP Pulse also plans to demolish the existing plant area, build a substation and alter the car park's layout.

The scheme will provide parking spaces for 40 cars, and the existing access to the site from Jones (GC) Way will remain unchanged.
There were no objections to the plans.
Frankie and Benny's closed its Great Yarmouth branch in July 2023. It was the last surviving outlet in Norfolk following closures in Norwich and King's Lynn.
The chain was owned by The Restaurant Group (TRG), which also owns Wagamama and Chiquito.
