For years it was a cafe called the Wanger and Snatch which served countless bacon sandwiches, fry ups and cups of tea in Great Yarmouth.

But now after being closed for six months, the cafe in Northgate Street has reopened following a complete makeover including being given a new name.

Now called Great Yarmouth Cafe and Restaurant, owner Coskun Kayn, 55, hopes the new-look eatery will be a success for years to come.

"The building needed lots of work done to it as it was very tired and had been neglected a bit," Mr Kayn said.

"We have totally changed everything here to give it the freshen-up it needed and really hope that the investment pays off.

"It is of course a bit of a risk, but I really like the street, there are a lot of other shops here too and we want to settle in among the businesses and serve the community with fair prices and good quality food and drinks."

Mr Kayn, who his English friends nickname Josh, moved to England in June 2010 from Istanbul, Turkey, where he worked in the textiles industry, making, buying and selling women's clothes.

But since arriving he has run many cafes across the county, including at Harleston and Dereham, which are now closed, but he still owns Gorleston Cafe in the High Street.

"We are a family-run business, my son Ozturk takes care of the Gorleston Cafe, other family members home cook for me every morning, and we all help each other out," Mr Kayn said.

"I am really excited to be open finally, we hope it will be very good and when people realise we are here and in business they will have a happy time and want to come back."

The business's opening hours are between 7am to 5pm on Monday to Saturday and on Sundays, it opens from 8am until 4pm.
