Man Alive Theatre highlight men's wellbeing in theatre tour

Highlighting generational trauma and unhealthy masculinity, the Norwich-based group, co-founded by Andy Woods, Mark Brown and Thom Bailey, strives to alert audiences to specific issues men face.

It will be performed in Bungay, Lowestoft and Gorleston next month.

The play, originally co-developed with NHS and Men'sCraft among others, unfolds the life of main character Patrick and his troubled relationship with his estranged father.

This perilous paternal bond sets off a chain of events, leading to both untold hilarity and heartbreak against a backdrop of shifting self-perception.

The performances conclude with a Q & A session.

They follow a successful debut in Norwich.

Thom Bailey, depicting lead role Patrick, said: "I never anticipated what an impact Three Kings would have on the audiences in Norwich, I didn’t expect anyone to stay for the Q and A, but I was pleasantly surprised at those that stayed behind to share their own experiences and thoughts on the play.

"It appeared to resonate with everyone to some degree.

"I had never thought to attempt a one man show before and although I found it a challenge I also found it liberating as it allowed me to confront my own mental health difficulties.

"And plus it’s a joy to be able to play all the roles within the piece that Patrick encounters."

Performances will begin this September, heading to the Fisher Theatre in  Bungay on September 5, The Seagull Theatre in Pakefield, Lowestoft, on September 8 and The Pavillion Theatre, Gorleston, on September 12.
