Work has finally begun on building 43 new seafront beach huts a mere two years after being approved by councillors.
The huts will line a stretch of the popular promenade close to the Venetian Waterways as dozens of the new buildings will be added to the seafront.
The plans for the renovations were approved in September 2022, with the original hopes for a quick turnaround and opening the following summer.
After a series of delays, the borough council has now announced the first huts are being put up this week - with five ready before the end of the month.

In September, 33 huts are set to be completed with the final four being finished in October.
They will initially be offered on an annual hire basis from April to March each year costing £2,260 per annum.
Councillor Graham Plant, Great Yarmouth Borough Council’s portfolio holder for operational property and asset management, said: ‘’We are delighted the beach huts are due for completion.
‘’They will be a real asset on our seafront and will be a valuable addition for those who want to make the most of all the beach has to offer in Great Yarmouth."

A purpose-built base for the huts has already been constructed with a dedicated amenity block on the way.
The council is now looking for people to hire the huts, with the buildings available until March 31 on a pro-rata basis.
Once finished the project is expected to have cost £683,000 although delays plagued the project with more coming from a change in contractor after issues earlier this summer.
Cllr Plant added: "We are really pleased with the outcome and how good they look.
‘’Constantly enhancing the offer for residents and visitors to the borough is hugely important to us and these new beach huts demonstrate our commitment to improving facilities.’’
