Heavy traffic was building after a section of the A47 was closed in both directions following a serious crash involving two cars.
The crash happened on the Acle Straight shortly after 3.15pm near the junction with Branch Road.
The stretch of road was closed in both directions between the A149 in Great Yarmouth and the A1064 in Acle.
An eyewitness reported that the incident was the result of a car overtaking and that one of the vehicles had ended up on its roof.
Three ambulances, two rapid response vehicles and an ambulance officer vehicle were at the scene of the crash, as well as fire crews.
At 5.25pm National highways East posted on X that there were delays of more than 45 minutes approaching the eastbound closure at Aclem, and also long delays westbound at the Great Yarmouth closure.
Injuries are not yet known.
