A local authority in Norfolk has been named Council of the Year by an industry magazine.
Great Yarmouth Borough Council was awarded the title by the Local Government Chronicle at an awards ceremony last night (June 12). British heartthrob Will Mellor - famous for his role as Gaz from Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps - presented the award to council members.
The council beat competition from Dorset Council, Gravesham Borough Council, Knowsley Council and Oxford City Council.

Judges made in-person visits to all five councils in the weeks leading up to the ceremony before they underwent live judging for the headline award category.
The judges said: "This council has delivered tangible regeneration and impressive economic development.
"This council is a perfectly timed example of how a small local authority with a relatively modest budget can punch well above its weight through leveraging significant financial investment but also partnership capital."
The judges unanimously said the kindness, energy and commitment from staff, members and partners is "infectious and a beacon for the sector".
