New landlords at a Norfolk village pub said they received a warm welcome as the premises reopened following weeks of closure.

The Farmers in Ormesby St Margaret has been taken over by former staff members Harry Daisley, 23, and Tallulah Campfor-Wood, 19.

Reopening the popular village haunt near Great Yarmouth on May 24, the couple - who used to wait tables and work in the kitchen under the pub's previous landlord - said the past three weeks have brought some of the busiest they had seen since they previously began working there last year.

"It's a close-knit village and everyone knows everyone, so it's been great to talk to regulars rather than being hidden away in the kitchen all the time," he said.

"People have been really supportive. I think they like having a pub on their doorstep. And it's the only one left in the village.

"It's been great seeing the beer garden full regularly since we took over."

Miss Campfor-Wood said she is striving to have different entertainment at the pub, which currently has live music every last Friday of the month and a pub quiz each Wednesday from 7.45pm.

"When it closed in April, Harry and I were gutted. When we got the chance to take it over, we knew it was a massive opportunity.

"And things are working out well."

Alongside regular tipples, The Farmers is offering a selection of Norfolk and Suffolk beers and spirits. The new landlords have also bought a coffee machine and have started a lunch menu with sandwiches, burgers and specials.

The couple plans to bring back an evening menu over the coming weeks.
