American Candy & Vape
A new store selling American sweets has opened in Great Yarmouth on Northgate Street.
Called American Candy & Vape, it also offers food and drink from other cultural backgrounds.
Store owner Khaled Abdelmeguid is passionate about American candy and explained that it underwent a massive change in the 1930s, with advances in technology and consumer behaviour seeing candy stores becoming popular across the US.
Today, American sweets are very much in demand in the UK, and with most of the candy from across the pond not regularly available in average supermarkets, stores such as American Candy & Vape are the go-to for these treats.
Khaled said opening the store is a new “adventure into business”, having previously run other businesses such as a takeaways in both Great Yarmouth and Hemsby.
The American Candy & Vape shop boasts a wide variety of sweets, and while that is the main focus, the store also sells cold drinks, including slushies and PRIME, toys and other food types to the local residents of Great Yarmouth and beyond.
"We aim to offer the best prices within our area and provide a range of different products that will cater for everyone," said Khaled.
“We have friendly and helpful staff that are always happy to help find what you are looking for. We encourage people to have a look and try the sweets available as you will be amazed by the variety!”
The store is always changing and expanding its stock to keep it fresh, and prides itself on providing products people would want to see and buy.
Khaled is “excited” to be a part of the American candy community with this new venture, as it looks to sweeten up Great Yarmouth, and in the future could look to expand.
"There is always room for expansion," he said. "If this business is a success and we feel it would be beneficial to expand into other towns, we will, but at the moment this shop will be our main focus."
