A man has appeared in court following the murder of a woman in Great Yarmouth,
Adam Barnard, 40, has been charged with murder after the body of Tara Kershaw, 33, was found at Princes Road, Yarmouth, just after 9am on Saturday.
Police had received information that the body of a woman was inside the property before they went to the address.
A Home Office post mortem examination has been conducted with initial findings showing the death was consistent with compression to the neck.
Barnard, of Princes Road, Yarmouth, appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court on Monday having been charged with murder.
The defendant, who appeared in the dock wearing a blue jumper and dark beard, spoke only to confirm his name during the short hearing.
The case was formally sent to Norwich Crown Court on Tuesday.
Barnard was remanded in custody.
Members of Ms Kershaw's family attended the short hearing accompanied by detectives from Norfolk and Suffolk's Major Investigation Team (MIT).
Josephine Jones appeared for the prosecution and Ann-Marie Sheridan represented Barnard.
The Princes Road address remained cordoned off on Monday.
Police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses who may have seen or heard any suspicious activity in the area to come forward.
