A man has died following a serious assault in Great Yarmouth.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was attacked in Regent Road on the Friday before Christmas.
He was taken to James Paget Hospital in Gorleston before being transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge where he remained in a critical condition before dying yesterday.
Officers believe the assault took place inside a communal area in a block of flats on Malakoff Close.
Two men, aged in their 20s and 30s, were arrested on suspicion of assault causing on grievous bodily harm (GBH) on December 22 and were taken to Great Yarmouth Police Station for questioning.
Officers were granted extra time to question both suspects after applying to magistrates for a warrant of further detention the following day.

On Christmas Day Martin Montgomery, of Russell Road, Great Yarmouth, was charged with GBH with intent.
He appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on December 26 and was further remanded into custody by the court to appear at Norwich Crown Court on 23 January.
The second man in his 20s who was arrested on suspicion of GBH was released on bail until March 2024.
Detectives are continuing their investigations and are liaising with the Crown Prosecution Service.
The Home Office pathologist will now carry out a post mortem examination to confirm the cause of death.
