A warning has been issued for icy conditions in Norfolk as temperatures are set to plummet. 

The Met Office has forecast much colder weather next week with lower-than-average temperatures expected. 

Parts of Norfolk will see freezing temperatures on Monday night and mostly dry weather is expected throughout the week, following a period of torrential rain that has led to flooding across the county. 

Frost is likely overnight during the week and there is also a risk of fog and ice.

The UK Health Security Agency has issued a cold weather alert for the region from 9am on Saturday until midday next Friday.

It said that the cold spell "may last well into the following week".

The forecast of drier weather over the coming days will be a relief to many as flood warnings remain in place across Norfolk today. 

There was a weather warning in place from Thursday afternoon until 3am this morning as heavy rain fell on saturated ground across the county.
