A man has appeared in court following a serious assault in Norfolk which has left a man fighting for his life in hospital.
Martin Montgomery, 31, has been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent after a man in his 50s was found with serious injuries in Regent Road, Great Yarmouth.
Emergency services were called at 12.07pm on Friday, December 22 following an assault believed to have taken place inside a communal area in a block of flats in Malakoff Close.
Montgomery, of Russell Road, Yarmouth, appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court this morning for a short hearing,
The case was formally sent to Norwich Crown Court to be heard on January 23.
Montgomery, who was represented by Rob Barley, was remanded in custody.

A man in his 20s arrested on suspicion of GBH has been released on bail, with conditions, until March 2024 while enquiries continue.
Police cordons in Malakoff Close, Ordnance Road and Russell Road, have all now been lifted.
The victim remains in a critical condition in Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
