An upcoming fireworks event in Great Yarmouth is believed to be a scam.
A Facebook page called SparkFest Great Yarmouth has been promoting a public fireworks event at the Beaconsfield Recreation Ground on Saturday, November 4 from 5.30pm.
Tickets have been available for the event on the website RSVPify, with adult general admission costing £5 and child general admission at £2. There is also a Yapsody website where tickets can be purchased.
A Great Yarmouth Borough Council spokesperson said: “Great Yarmouth Borough Council has not received an event notification or a request for permission to hold an event under this name on council land.”
Today (November 1), the Sparkfest Facebook posted images of a funfair being installed in a grassy area, with a message reading: "WELCOME TO THE HOUSE OF FUN.
"The funfair is starting to take shape. And we are SO EXCITED."
However, our reporter visited Beaconsfield Recreation Ground this morning, and nothing has been set up.
Great Yarmouth Borough Council commented on the Sparkfest post: "We believe this is a scam as we have not given permission for this event on our land."

A member of The Lazy Pig's Facebook team has commented on posts made by Sparkfest that they will not be attending and they believe the event is a scam.
