A family theme park in Great Yarmouth has been named one of the best seaside attractions in the country.

The Pleasure Beach on the Golden Mile was shortlisted in three categories at the UK Theme Park Awards, walking away with a silver in Best Seaside Park in the south.

The park's director of business development Aaron Jones went to the awards held at Chessington World of Adventures in London on Thursday, September 21.

Mr Jones said: "We had an unbelievable response from judges and visitors and managed to snag the silver.

"It's the first time we've won an award like this and we are over the moon."

The award comes after a successful summer season following a "shaky start" due to the weather, Mr Jones said.

"Once August started and the weather was on our side, the park was full with families," he added.

At the UK Theme Park Awards, Pettitts Animal Adventure Park, Norwich's ROARR! Dinosaur Adventure and Wroxham's BeWILDerwood were also nominated for awards. 

BeWILDerwood won silver in the Best New Event category for its Christmas offering, and ROARR! won bronze for the Best Theme Park for Families.
