A bid to convert part of a former police station into flats has been refused.
Michael Foti, of Lindanna Building Services Ltd, was seeking permission to convert the ground floor of the former barracks in Caister, on the junction of High Street and Croft Road, into two flats.
But planners at Great Yarmouth Borough Council (GYBC) said the loss of the station's main doorway would be harmful to the appearance of the building within the street scene.
They also raised concerns about the lack of affordable housing - as permission has already been granted for eight residential units on the site.
Those earlier plans include two pairs of four-bedroom houses and one pair of three-bedroom houses.

The plans also include the conversion and change of use of main building to create two flats and two shops on the ground floor.
As things stand, the houses have been built and works to start the conversion of the upper floors of the building are underway.
The central main doorway is blocked up with concrete blocks.
