Students from across the Great Yarmouth area have been celebrating their GCSE successes as they got their results last Thursday.
Teenagers at Caister Academy continue to achieve record successes again as the percentage of grades 4 to 9 in English and mathematics reached 60pc - up from last year's 56pc.
Among the many success stories were:
Amy Smith achieved five grade 9s in English, biology, chemistry, physics and geography, two grade 8s in mathematics and history, and two distinction stars in business and dance. She is moving onto East Norfolk Sixth Form College to study mathematics, biology, dance and psychology.
Jamie Dakin achieved grade 9 in geography, two grade 8s in English and science, and two distinction stars in engineering and travel and tourism, and is moving to East Norfolk to study business, engineering and information technology.
Vanesa Haritonova received two grade 9s in English literature and art, two grade 8s in English language and geography, and three grade 7s in biology, chemistry and computer science. She is moving to East Norfolk to study fine art, graphics and psychology.
Kai Saunders earned grade 9 in mathematics, two grade 8s in physics and German, a distinction star in business, and three grade 7s in biology, chemistry and computer science, and is moving onto East Norfolk to study mathematics, finance and information technology.
Cai Wheate achieved grade 9 in mathematics, distinction star in business, and seven grade 7s in English language and literature, chemistry, physics, computer science, geography and German, and is moving onto East Norfolk to study mathematics, further mathematics, computer science and information technology.
Caister Academy principal Ben Driver said: “We are delighted with the outcomes achieved by our students – they are role models for future students, and we are incredibly proud.
"Thanks to their dedication, the commitment of staff, and the support of parents, the wider community and Creative Education Trust, we have once again recorded some of the strongest outcomes ever achieved at Caister.

There were similar scenes of joy at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy as students received their results, with 56pc of them receiving grades of 9-4 in maths and English.
Principal Dean Rosembert said: “At Great Yarmouth Charter Academy we are so proud of our students, they are a credit to themselves and have worked incredibly hard to achieve their GCSE results.
"Many of our students are excited to take their next steps and will continue with us at Sir Isaac Newton East Sixth Form. Our staff have been helping them along the way, and all of us at the academy wish them every success in the future.”
Teenagers at Flegg High Ormiston Academy in Martham, also celebrated after receiving their GCSE results.
Among the school's success stories were:
Isabella Beales achieved grade 9s in English, history and music, grades 8 in Spanish, physics, biology, maths and English Literature, a grade 7 in chemistry and a distinction* in BTEC Sport.
Isabel Bentley achieved grade 9s in maths, dance and biology, grade 8s in English, drama, French, geography, chemistry and physics and a grade 7 in English Literature.
River Al Said is celebrating two grade 9s in English and history, enabling them to continue their passion for studying history at A level.
Ben Ramsey will be building on his excellent GCSE results by studying at college. Ben achieved two grade 8s, six grade 7s and a distinction*.
Poppy Loveland achieved the highest progress score across the academy, marking the strong progress she made during her time at Flegg, and will go on to study at college. Poppy is also a talented sportsperson, representing the school and other local teams in football.
Flegg principal Jane Bennett said: “We are extremely proud of our students and what they have achieved, which is well deserved. They have worked hard over the last two years, and throughout their time with us, and it’s brilliant to be celebrating their achievements today.
"This year group had many challenges related to Covid during their time at school and we are so proud of how they have overcome them.
“I would like to thank all our students, their families, our staff and the wider academy community for their ongoing support and we look forward to seeing our students progress on to the next stage of their education and fulfil their goals.”
There were also celebrations in Gorleston as students at Cliff Park Ormiston Academy received their GCSE results.
Some particular highlights include:
Martin Balkus, who successfully achieved a grade 9 in biology, physics, chemistry and maths and grade 8 in geography and history.
Lily Bull attained a grade 9 in Art, English Language, history and sociology and grade 8s in combined science, English Literature, religious studies and music.
Amy Stone secured a grade 9 in art, English Literature and history and a grade 8 in combined science, religious studies and French.
Cliff Park principal Harry French said: “We’re extremely proud of the results our students have achieved today.
"They have worked really hard during their time with us, with the support of our colleagues, and so today’s celebrations are a testament to this.
“A huge congratulations to all our Year 11 cohort receiving their results today, and a thank you to everyone who has played an important part in their journey at Cliff Park.”
At Lynn Grove Academy, there are plenty of happy faces as many pupils achieved their ambitious targets.
Among the star performers is Tom Barnes who achieved 9 grade 9s and a grade 8. His passions are maths and science and he will be going to East Norfolk Sixth Form College for A-levels.
Livia Oosterlee was in the first cohort of Lynn Grove pupils to study Chinese and along with a 9 in that subject, she aced her exams with a total of 8 grade 9 and 3 grade 8. Livia will also be embarking on A levels at East Norfolk.
Principal Alison Mobbs said: “I am proud of the resilience and determination shown by our year 11 pupils. Our results show that hard work pays off.
"I want to thank everyone in the school community for always doing their best to support our young people.
"I want to extend heartfelt congratulations to the class of 2023 and wish them all the very best for the next steps in education.”
At Ormiston Venture Academy in Gorleston, they were celebrating the fantastic outcome of their commitment over the past five years.
Some individual highlights include:
Dominic Dlugosz achieved four grade 9s and four grade 8s. He will go onto Lowestoft Sixth Form College to study computer science, physics and maths.
Jessie Higgins earned two grade 9s and five grade 8s and will take a place at East Norfolk next year.
Evie Williams juggled weekly training with the Ipswich Town Women’s U21 team while revising for her exams. She has four grade 9s across her subjects, along with a further two grade 8s and three grade 7s, and received a scholarship to St Joseph’s College in Ipswich to enable her to continue her journey towards professional football.
Principal Simon Gilbert-Barnham said: “This year group, not just at Venture but nationally, have had a lot of challenges along the way.
"The way our students have not only achieved but come together as a real community to support one another is nothing short of remarkable.
"They should be proud of their achievements, of their resilience and of the amazing young people they have become.
“We are so proud of them all and I not only want to congratulate them on their achievements but also thank the staff, families and our community who have supported them in preparing for their next steps.”
There were similar scenes in Acle as students opened their GCSE results.
Principal Helen Watts said: “Congratulations to all our students who worked hard on their GCSEs - we are incredibly proud of your achievements.
"Students who showed determination and effort have been rewarded with a great set of results. Many students have made great progress from their starting points and there have been some incredible individual achievements.
“Congratulations to Emma Becker who has achieved our highest ever average grade point score with eight Grade 9's and one Grade 8.
"Thank you to all staff who have worked tirelessly to support our students in school and to parents who have supported us at home. We are delighted that so many will be able to successfully move on to their chosen destinations with pride.”
