A pub in Great Yarmouth that shut down last month looks set to reopen with a 'new look'.

The Duke's Head has announced on its Facebook page that it will be up and running again on Saturday, July 22.

The venue on Hall Quay ceased trading on June 17 as the lease ended and landlord Andrew Livingstone said the venue's kitchen was too small.

Regulars had expressed heartbreak at news of the pub's closure and said it had become a safe haven for the town's LGBT community.

But the pub's Facebook post - which said: "Are you ready for this? The new look Duke's Head" - prompted a cascade of positive comments from "amazing" to "brilliant" to "fantastic news".

"Can't wait to see the new changes," replied one customer.

On Monday (July 10), Mr Livingstone declined to comment when asked about the apparent turnaround in the venue's fortunes.

The Duke's Head, a flint-flecked building on the quayside, is one of Yarmouth’s most historic watering holes dating from 1609.
