Police are increasing foot patrols as part of a clampdown on antisocial behaviour in Grerat Yarmouth.

Antisocial Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week begins today (July 3) until Sunday.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council Tenancy Services Team and Norfolk Constabulary have joined the national campaign to promote community safety.

The scheme will see pop-up engagement events, foot patrols, estate walks and street surgeries to encourage communities to work with their landlords and police to take a stand against ASB.

People are being encouraged to take part in the events and share their views on ASB and suggestions for improvements.

Councillor Graham Plant said: “To support the well-being of our communities, the council will always take a strong stance against ASB where possible through informal actions and by offering support to help people to improve their behaviour.

“In a small number of cases where this approach is unsuccessful, we have a strong partnership with the police and take swift, robust action to protect residents whose lives are being significantly negatively impacted by the behaviour of others.’’

Incidents of ASB can be reported to the Tenancy Services Team via the council’s website at www.great-yarmouth.gov.uk, by emailing tenancyservices@great-yarmouth.gov.uk or calling 01493 846825/846839.
