A house on a premier stretch of Gorleston seafront could be redeveloped as 'luxury' flats.

Michael Foti wants to transform 17 Marine Parade by bulldozing the rear of the property and building two new apartments.

He is also seeking permission from Great Yarmouth Borough Council to remodel the rest of the existing building to form five flats instead of nine.

Each apartment would have two bedrooms.

In August last year, planners refused a previous application which sought the demolition of part of the existing building and construction of two self-contained holiday flats.

A statement supporting the new application states the development "now addresses the existing cramped accommodation within the existing building and reduces the number of flats present from nine to five self-contained units to a level of accommodation more suited to the location".

"This area of Gorleston is very popular and house prices reflect this as one of the places to live," the statement adds.

Marine Parade has seen many changes in the last 25 years starting with the demolition of the Links Hotel in 1998 to make way for five houses.
