The second phase of Great Yarmouth’s market revamp is expected to be completed by the end of the summer.
Work on the overall £4.7m market place project began in April 2021 to host stalls under an “architecturally-striking canopy".
The borough council says it is designed to ensure the market is more inviting to customers and to complement its historic setting.
The first phase of the market building was completed in June 2022, coinciding with the start of the town’s celebrations of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Currently, a deadline for the completion of phase two has not been confirmed. But council leader Carl Smith and Great Yarmouth Labour opposition leader Trevor Wainwright said they expect it to be by the end of the summer.
In a joint statement, Mr Smith and Mr Wainwright said: "The new market continues to prove a success with traders and shoppers and the construction of the second phase is progressing well.
"The council are in discussions with the contractor about confirming a completion date."
In April, a fresh plea for potential stall holders was made in a statement on the borough council's Facebook page.
