Speeding hotspots in Great Yarmouth and surrounding areas have been targeted by the police in recent weeks.

Officers from Norfolk Constabulary have conducted speed checks in Southtown, Bradwell and Caister throughout the past two weeks.

Police visited hotspots highlighted in recent Safer Neighbourhood Action Panel (SNAP) priority meetings.

More than 100 vehicles were checked travelling along New Road in Belton, Market Road in Burgh Castle, Suffolk Road in Southtown, Burgh Road in Bradwell, and Ormesby Road and Brooke Avenue in Caister.

A police spokesperson said: "Nobody was found to be driving excessively this time. However, four drivers were spoken to and given words of advice."

Along with using a mobile phone, not wearing a seatbelt and driving under the influence, speeding remains one of the biggest causes of fatalities and serious injuries on the road.

The police spokesperson added: "We'll continue to carry out enforcement days like this across Great Yarmouth and Gorleston. Particularly as visitor numbers to the county increase over the summer months."

Police also attended an organised car meet at Great Yarmouth seafront on Sunday (May 28).

One man was arrested for driving under the influence.
