A 20-year-old man was arrested after driving under the influence at a car meet on Great Yarmouth seafront.

Police officers attended an advertised car meet on Sunday to ensure the area's Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) was upheld and that people acted safely and responsibly.

At the meet, one driver was arrested for driving under the influence, and police recorded three breaches of the PSPO. Four Section 59s were issued, and officers gave 10 verbal and five written warnings to drivers. Two traffic offence reports were also issued.

A Norfolk Constabulary spokesperson said: "The large majority of visitors engaged with us very positively and enjoyed themselves.

"There were also some who decided to be a nuisance, and we didn't hesitate to speak to them too.

"Anyone with a special place in their heart for Yarmouth knows that car and motorcycle enthusiasts have been meeting on the seafront for years.

"We don't have a problem with that per se, as long as the meetings are held safely, and with as little disruption to residents and businesses as possible."
