The community group Reprezent Project is calling on people across the Great Yarmouth area to help it secure £35,525 of National Lottery funding by voting for it in this year’s The People’s Projects.
The Reprezent Project is one of five groups in the east region in the running for a share of almost £250,000 of funding.
If successful, Reprezent Project will use the money to celebrate the community’s identity by hosting intergenerational and multicultural workshops with artists to create five murals in Great Yarmouth and Gorleston.
The funding will help people facing hardships in the community empower greater self-belief and develop confidence for the future through a Building Stories project.
Appealing for votes, Ruben Cruz, chairman at Reprezent Project, said: “The People’s Projects has given us an amazing opportunity to raise awareness and support for our work and, with your help, secure this additional much-needed funding.
"If we win, our project will make a real difference to our local community by bringing communities from deprived neighbourhood together as a community.
"That will give confidence to people and give skills, culture, art and support those self isolating.
"We now need local people to get behind us, to show their support and vote.”
Reprezent Project focuses on founding unique and accessible creative learning environments that can enhance the lives of young people in many different ways.
It has created colourful murals and has organised and been involved with many community events.
Voting closes at noon on Friday, May 26.
People can vote only once per region and will need an email address or mobile number to vote.
Visit www.thepeoplesprojects.org.uk for more information and to vote.
Since it started in 2005, The People’s Projects has awarded around £45m to over 1,000 good causes.
