"It's the place I don't want to leave."
So said a pupil at Gorleston's Stradbroke Primary Academy during its latest Ofsted inspection.
The primary school on Lowestoft Road, which has a roll of 210 pupils, has been rated good by the education watchdog for the second consecutive time.
Inspectors visited the school on March 2 and 3, and noted the school's "friendly community where pupils feel happy and safe" as well as its "exceptional" support for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
The report commended Stradbroke Primary Academy for its emphasis on reading in the early years and key stage one. The inspectors said: "In 2022, a high proportion of pupils reached the required standard in phonics by the end of Year 1."
Ofsted also praised the academy for the opportunities it affords to children, highlighting that "leaders provide many opportunities for pupils to join in with enrichment activities" - including sport and cultural events - as well as leadership opportunities such as the school council, eco-warriors and reading ambassadors.
“Through leadership opportunities, pupils have a positive impact on the ethos of the school," the report added.
The report did note, however, that older pupils do not make consistently strong progress in reading at key stage 2, and "sometimes, gaps in pupils’ knowledge are not identified quickly enough".

Principal Tanya Blake said: "I am delighted to receive such a brilliant outcome from the inspection. We are committed to ensuring that our students feel happy, safe, and supported in their school, and are confident in their abilities.
"This report is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff, pupils and the local community, and I am very proud of all that we have achieved this year."
Stradbroke Primary Academy, which is part of Inspiration Trust, also achieved a good rating in 2017.
