Work continues on the inside of a new £15m concept ward at a Gorleston hospital.

The new ward being built at the James Paget University Hospital, which is said to offer a glimpse of the site's future, is located at the north end of the grounds and is scheduled to open next month.

In 2020, the hospital was selected to be one of 40 new hospitals built across England by 2030.

The ward - which will have two four-bed bays and 20 single bedrooms with windows, en suite facilities and space for visitors to stay - will provide a blueprint for how inpatients will receive care at the new James Paget.

A spokesperson for the Paget said: "Work continues on the internal fit-out and installation of plant on the ward roof."

The spokesperson added the development is on track for May when staff training will begin.

In December, modules forming the main ward area were installed. At the end of January, 11 roof modules were installed, which will house the mechanical and electrical equipment required to run the ward.
