People waiting to see the first section of Great Yarmouth's new £121m bridge be lifted into place have given their views on the scheme.
The first bascule leaf section is about to be lifted into place by a giant crane on the River Yare.
Some people watching from a viewing point said the third crossing coming to the town was 30 years too late and were unsure how it would help traffic issues.
Former butcher Philip Blake, who lives in Caister and worked in Yarmouth his whole life and is aged 65, said: “We are hoping it will do some good but I’ll be surprised if it does what they think it will.
“We think they need one by the Bure because everything still has to come over the Acle Straight.
“Where is the bridge going? The bridge is going to a post-industrial area with not a lot going on that side. It seems strange."
Alison Smith, retired and of Yarmouth said: “I don’t understand why the bridge is going where it is to be honest.
"The main issue which needs doing and has been rumoured for years is the Acle Straight."
