The main operation to lift the first section of Great Yarmouth's £121m third crossing is expected to start at about 11am this morning.
Hundreds of people have gathered at two viewing points either side of the River Yare to witness the spectacle of one of the largest civil engineering projects in Norfolk.
The 700 tonne third crossing section is due to be lifted into position by crane.
The second section will be lifted later this week during a 72-hour window.
Public viewing areas have been established on either side of the River Yare on Bollard Quay opposite Queen Anne’s Road on the western side of the river and by the newly constructed junction off South Denes Road to the east.
The crossing is to be called the Herring Bridge after a public vote.
