A popular coffee spot in Gorleston has been taken over by new owners.

Jack and Becky Carter, 29, have bought Barista Buoy after previous owner Mark Sutton passed over the successful business.

The tuk tuk coffee firm was a smash hit with locals, who have expressed excitement on social media at the announcement that it finally has new owners.

The endeavour will be a family affair for the couple, who are good friends with Mr Sutton and "big supporters" of the businesses.

Mr Carter said: "It was a random joke one day with Mark. I said 'if you ever want to sell it...' and then he did.

Mr and Mrs Carter's three children under 10 and two dogs will be regulars at the coffee stop.

Barista Buoy has previously sat at Gorleston beach’s far end carpark, along Marine Parade, but the new owners are anxiously waiting to hear if Great Yarmouth Borough Council will grant them the pitch again amid competition for the position.

The couple are asking for support from the community for this to pass due to the time lapse since Mr Sutton stopped trading.

Mr Carter added: "We are working closely with Mark to keep up the standard and learn the technical side of things which he got spot on as everyone loved it - it was the best coffee around.

"We are training to give the same service and service and standard.

"He made such an impact and created such a great community. There was always a queue and everyone was talking and chatting - it was more than just a place to get coffee."
