A new Lidl supermarket half a mile up the road from its existing Great Yarmouth store is now in the hands of planners.
The German supermarket chain is looking to replace its existing shop on Pasture Road with a larger new store close to Thamesfield Way in Southtown.
Great Yarmouth Borough Council's development control committee will discuss the bid at the Town Hall on Wednesday, February 25.
If the bid for the new store is accepted, Lidl will close its existing branch before opening a prospective new-build store on Thamesfield Way.
The proposal is for a single-storey retail food shop on 11,787 square metres of land which will also include areas for storage and deliveries and a car park.
The 136-space car park will include eight disabled spaces, nine parent and child spaces, and 28 electrical vehicle charging spaces.
The exterior of the one-storey supermarket will include solar panels and the eastern corner is proposed to be landscaped. There is also a proposal to include a drainage attenuation pond on the eastern corner of the grounds.
According to plans, the bid has currently received two comments of support, with one person saying: "The Lidl store in Lowestoft is smart and this will be a great improvement."
The proposal has also received three objections, with one person saying: "The store will be less accessible on foot, limiting customers' ability to do a big shop."
The person added that the new location would be less inclusive to less mobile people.
Tesco Stores Ltd also objected to the plans, stating issues with pedestrian access and the Lidl store's location possibly presenting "a threat to future town centre investment".
Lidl had previously offered a cash bounty for people in the town to find a suitable location for its new store.
Two other sites were considered for the new location, vacant land at Lime Kiln Walk and vacant land east of Bunns Lane, Southtown.
