A Gorleston salon owner is opening her own hairdressing academy to help bridge a skills gap.
Emma Jarvis, the owner of The Hair Base (THB), decided to start her own training school after noticing that many hairdressers struggle to keep their skills up-to-date.
She said: "The hairdressing industry is exciting, it’s dynamic and ever-changing.
"I believe questions need to be asked as to if the current education is enough to meet these needs.
"Many newly qualified hairdressers feel after their initial training, they are lacking in up-to-date skills and confidence - that’s where THB Academy comes in.
"We are so looking forward to welcoming our first students."
The Hair Base Academy will aim to empower stylists to feel ready to hit the salon floor.
Miss Jarvis has been in the industry for 23 years and her salon was recently named the best salon in Norfolk at the London Salon Awards 2022.
It scooped a further five awards - best stylist, best colouring and salon experience, as well as best new salon and best curly stylist.
