The owner of a seafood restaurant on the Norfolk coast is closing it with a heavy heart, despite having hundreds of five-star reviews.

Since opening in late 2021, Octopus in Great Yarmouth's King Street has seen people travelling from far and wide to visit, with dishes ranging from oysters to grilled octopus.

But despite its popularity, local entrepreneur Ben Melhado has now announced it is closing amid the cost of living crisis.

Mr Melhado said: "We are getting crucified with energy and gas bills, which are £700 a week, and then the price of food has gone up - especially fresh fish.

"I needed to think pragmatically and not sentimentally and this isn't the end of Octopus as it is a fantastic brand and if anyone knows of the right place or venue then get in touch.

"We want celebration instead of commiseration as we created something pretty spectacular and people said it was the best meal they had ever had."

Mr Melhado is especially proud of its success as he had no prior experience in hospitality.
